It was wonderful to see this little Dutch Home pattern hooked up at the ATHA 2013 Biennial Rug Show! As a designer, it’s always interesting to see your design interpreted by someone else. I love how Elise added dogs and filled out the ‘Apple’ trees. even a few crows fly by…

I’ve revisited my ‘Dutch Home’ pattern and came up with a sampler; ‘Dutch Home Sampler’. i’m anxious to hook it up… using my noodles!

The ECCO center is a wonderul place to stay… near Yosemite in the California Sierra’s. After the lights are out, you can see a million stars! The Sugar Pines are elegant with their pinkish bark and long needles. This past summer, we had a full moon to walk us back to our rooms.

I enjoyed attending Susan Feller ‘s class at Hooker Hill Rug Retreat this past summer! Susan emphasizes designing your own rug, with your own story. She has a nice way of bringing her class together. With her ‘Fraktur Design Kit’, she invited each of us to design a ‘Fraktur’ rug. Looking through her Fraktur books, i found a small ‘Compass Rose’ design that struck my fancy. I Used my 14″ circle template from my mini-class on Chair Rugs and drew out a compass rose, finishing with the floral designs as in the book.

It was a very fun hook… except the yellow was trying to take over! It all worked out when I added the red and blue.

Susan adds other fiber manipulations to her rugs and demonstrates how a braid might enhance Nancy’s rug.

The Wool Poppies asked me to teach a 2-day Mini-Class; Autumn Leaves have been on my mind!
