Dianne did a wonderful job with her dog portrait… she thought about closing the dog’s mouth, but i’m glad she changed her mind… it’s great!

'Frank' hooked by Val

‘Frank’ hooked by Val

First time a student had a bearded portrait to hook… it was kind of funny… since Val got to hook ‘hair’ very early on. ‘Frank’ was completed by the 3rd day, so Val went on to start on her self portrait… sorry no photo of that.

Dad hooked by Lisa

Dad hooked by Lisa

Lisa’s father turned out to be a challenging portrait subject. Sometimes the lighting is flat and it’s hard to bring out the facial features. we experimented with this and that until a good reminiscents was achieved.

On the last day, Lisa pulled out her second portrait for the 2 workshops and got started. i think she will find this portrait much easier… but time will tell.

Fond Memory Rug designed and hooked by Shirley

Fond Memory Rug designed and hooked by Shirley

Shirley chose her late husband to star in her story rug; he was known for filleting this certain fish perfectly, and Shirley is hooking it to perfection!

Terracotta Angel hooked by Margo

Terracotta Angel hooked by Margo

New to rug hooking, Margo chose a challenging project. The strong sunlight on the little architectural angel made it difficult to shade.

Vibrant Trees hooked by Nancy

Nancy found this painting and got permission to hook a rug from the design… it’s very colourfully fun!

Grandparents Home designed and hooked by Jan

Jan had a couple of photographs to guide us with her design and hooking elements to create this lovely landscape of her grandparents home. there are a few shadows on the white house… thank goodness!

Cottage Scene hooked by Mary

Mary is another new rug hooker and enjoyed learning about the magic of plaid and textures!

'3 Padulas' runner hooked by Faye

Faye enjoyed playing with my ‘3 Padulas’ pattern, published in Rug Hooking Magazine several years ago as a ‘Dear Beginner’ project.

Stain Glass Grey Heron by Barb

Stain Glass Grey Heron by Barb

Barb is a new rug hooker so this was a good challenge for her. Fine cut outlining and medium cut random fill. it was difficult at first to master the random fill with the recycled wool, but Barb did! She’s got a great start!

photos of Lynn and Laurie’s projects aren’t shown because they’ll be shown at Western Teachers’ Workshop first. since i’m not showing my version of ‘Ketchikan’ yet… it seemed only fair.
