Autumn Leaves… one of my favorite songs… drift by my window

The falling leaves drift by the window
The autumn leaves of red and gold
I see your lips, the summer kisses
The sun-burned hands I used to hold

Since you went away the days grow long
And soon I’ll hear old winter’s song
But I miss you most of all my darling
When autumn leaves start to fall

Would you like to join me at Hooker Hill Rug Retreat this coming July and learn more about this little Chair Rug? Design your rug and dye your Autumn wool in my mini-class!

The Wool Poppies put on a great retreat… at a beautiful little spot on the way to Yosemite! From Oakhurst, you drive uphill and north, past the turn off to Bass Lake, then ECCO Center is on the right.  it’s easy to find, a serene spot, affordable too!

The Wool Poppies are the most gracious hosts of this little retreat… Susan Feller and Brigitta Phy are teaching this July 21- 24, 2013… I’m teaching a 2-part mini-class on the Autumn Leaves Chair Rug. Check it all out on the Wool Poppies’ website… a link is offered on the right side-panel.

See you there!

  1. Laura, your leaf chair seat is lovely! And I like your colorings. You do a lot with purple. I’m learning. Also I’m working on a “Lavendar Lady” …copy of a 1929 ad that was on the back of one of Phil’s car ads. I’m struggling with background again. Do you have anymore of that blue that transitions to lavendar? I have a small piece and think I bought it from you. I used it in the background in the small portrait of my grandparents …the big hat and two children. It’s probably a dipdye. I’ll send a photo of my Lavendar Lady. Sarah

    • Hi Sarah… i do still have that wool… dipped from blue to lavendar. i dyed quite a bit for a class at Western Teachers’ Workshop… i have it dipped long ways and short ways… if you know what i mean. so a quarter yard dipped either way. good to hear from you. i’ve just finished another Autumn Leaf chair rug… with a light background and 6 leaves! it’s packed!

      • Laura, Yes, I would like to have a quarter or half yard of it the long way…from blue to lavender. I didn’t send you the photo yet but I did take it..Maybe I’ll try a bit later. Did I tell you that Phil hurt his back again? He is in agony…it doesn’t seem as bad to me as last time, but he says that is because he is tolerating it better…complaining less? Anyway, after an MRI, that was inconclusive, and a 3-phase bone scan, we have an appointment with the Orthopedic surgeon in the am to see what can be done for him. I think Phil is prepared for surgery now…it’s so bad. Here’s hoping that they can help him. By the way, my ATHA NEWSLETTER just came and I saw Arline’s portrait of her grandparents again…it is fabulous…either an outstanding teacher or amazing hooker…or maybe BOTH! Congrats. Love, Sarah
