Miriam Lastine and Gail Becker discuss Gail’s ‘fiber bowl’

Gail enjoys making little bowls of yarn and embellishing them. She usually has some for sale whenever she is teaching or vending at Rug Hooking events! Gail shared many of her ‘how to’ techniques with her students in groups and individually. She enjoyed teaching at LRI rug camp and her students enjoyed her! Gail will be back next year along with Cheryl Bollenbach; November 3-8, 2013.
For information, check my website; Flying Dog Hookery.

Tanya Graham discusses design elements

Tanya Graham discusses design elements

Tanya talked everyday about ‘Art Concepts’, much to everyone’s enjoyment. By Thursday, she shared her comments with both classes. Here she has borrowed a few patterns in progress and talks about design. This is my pattern, ‘Double Distlefinks’, being hooked by Marsha Bassett.

Tanya talks about 'self critique'

Tanya talks about ‘self critique’

Tanya’s last talk was about ‘Art Critique’; specifically ‘self-critique’, which is available to each of us. Her beautiful seaweed rug is her subject and it’s actually on it’s side. (I hung it sideways because this space was available by the time Tanya arrived on Sunday afternoon.) Tanya talked about her design process and how the design changed as she hooked this rug.

With a beautiful rainbow in the morning, the sky was dramatically threatening rain all day! Fortunately, we were able to share our in-progress rugs, as usual!

Timna is a new rug hooker doing her own design! i like the way she is blending the flatness of rugs with the 3D of nature.

We were all captivated by the little girl dancing and keeping her balance with a splash at her foot! It’s always exciting to see Pat work her magic with wool strips!

The progress show is a good time to get feedback and comments.
