Full day on Thursday at LRI Rug Camp!

Good morning rainbow!

Good morning rainbow!

It’s easy to get out of bed every morning at Little River Inn, when there is such a spectacular view waiting for you… and Thursday morning was even more special with a rainbow over the ocean!

I took some time to photograph each and every rug on Thursday morning. Andrine’s version of ‘Sunflowers’ is so nicely done; variety and balance in all the pedals and leaves, with restful background and border.

'Bill & Betty - Husband & Wife Champions' designed & hooked by Polly Webber

‘Bill & Betty – Husband & Wife Champions’ designed & hooked by Polly Webber

A wonderful tribute and portrait by Polly Webber, for her parents. She combined a couple of favorite photos to come up with this composition and created this special portrait rug.

'Rainforest' designed & hooked by Tanya Graham

I couldn’t see this rug until it was up on the wall… and then… Viola! A rich, damp forest with moss smells and bird calls… possibly from a rainforest in British Columbia, where Tanya lives.

'Bible Box Runner' adapted and hooked by Rosario Villavincencio

Rosario traveled from New York and brought 4 small rugs… this little delightful rug with it’s unique finish amoung them.

Small but powerful, a landscape to travel into.

'Teton' hooked by LaRae Schneider, design by Jane Flynn

Another landscape in the language of weaving symbols. LaRae is from Montana, and is connected to the Tetons.

One more rug from this south wall of Abalone Hall; Andrine’s Pumpkin Man! He seems a little concerned… it’s 3 o’clock!? I recently discovered that Kris Miller also designed a Pumpkin Lady, a companion rug to this one. I don’t know what the name of the pattern is, but you can visit Kris Miller at her Spruce Ridge Studios website; www.spruceridgestudios.com

I met Kris Miller at Cape May this past September; she and I shared a classroom. She’s driving out to vend at the 2013 ATHA Biennial at Long Beach next September so if you’re attending, you can look for her and her patterns, there!
