Sonoma County Tour for Capri Jones

Shollenberger Park in Petaluma, CA

A morning walk at Shollenberger Park was a nice way to show Capri some of our beautiful landscape in southern Sonoma County, where I’ve lived for many years.  I always bring my camera, since there are many beautiful vistas.  Then i posterize them for fun!  i love the 2 ducks flying in formation…

View from the Benziger Tram Tour in Glen Ellen

Over looking the Insectory and the bordeau grape vines, we enjoyed the Tram Tour at Benziger, then tasted their fine wines.  http://www.benziger.com/  As a very part-time  Tasting Room employee, it was fun to re-connect with several of my co-workers.  We went on to Imagery Winery to taste more fine wines and see the label Art.   Of course, we took a few bottles home!  Pinot Noir, Chardonnay, White Burgundy and Viognier… to name a few of my favourites!

There was actually snow on the very top of Sonoma Mountain… but it’s hard to see in this photograph.

Nancy Winn's Great Grey Heron with Kadinsky Color Play hooked rug

The next day, we visited Fiber Artist, Nancy Winn.  She gave us a tour of her Sundawg Studio http://www.nancywinnsundawg.com/  where she crafts her Papier Mache Critters.    Her Great Grey is residing in the kitchen with one of Nancy’s latest hooked rugs, a play on Kadinsky’s ‘Color Play’.

Sonoma Coast, south of the Russian River.

From Nancy’s place we headed into Graton for lunch, then followed the Russian River out to the Coast and up to the Jenner.  I wanted to show Capri the little cigar shaped harbour seals, perched on the sand at the river’s mouth.   Heading south we followed along the coast into Bodega Bay.  From there it was inland to Petaluma, where we had another nice dinner at home.   it’s always good when friends come to town… you have to take time to enjoy the beauty in your own back yard.

i’m heading for Maryland tomorrow… back to MD Shores to teach a class and a mini-class too.  i will stay with friends before rug camp and plan to enjoy the beauty of their back yard!
